no new job
I am not interested in finding a new job. I am focused on making room for what is next. This does not mean I am not trying to provide labor in exchange for money, because, well, capitalism- what is the alternative? I can not opt out of this system; however, I can decide how I choose to engage with it. I also firmly believe I have earned the right to be selective about where I go and what I do next. I am undoubtedly an asset to every organization I touch, and I leave people, places, policies, and practices better than I found them. This is not a humble brag. This is a fact.
I am a phenomenal team member, an emotionally attuned leader, and a battle-tested social work practitioner. My skills and knowledge are vast, versatile, and valuable. I have done so much throughout my career that I have forgotten many of my contributions. I have reached the stage where people approach me with excitement to talk about programs, events, and initiatives I helped create, yet they have no idea. I am also old enough in this work that I can hear someone share an idea with pure glee, thinking it is original, when I know something similar is already happening or was done 10 years ago. I am a young OG for real.
I truly feel I have reached the “what is left?” point in my current trajectory, and I have absolutely no energy to look for another job. Whatever I do and where I go, we will find each other. It will be something aligned, purposeful, timely, fun, and impactful. I trust this to be true. I have no space in my imagination to think otherwise. Until whatever is next reveals itself, I will remain obedient, go where I am called, and operate within my brilliance.
My current mindset is not a privilege. It is a courageous decision to bet on me and consider the possibilities.
Why can’t it be me?
Why can’t I be the one who is allowed to pause, dream, and do?
My life right now is more than just a test of faith. It is the actualization of decades of discipline, internal battles with self, and investment of resources. I have unknowingly been training for the present for the last thirty years, so I have no reason to be afraid. I am prepared.
